Joan Brown Six was a science teacher for the Itasca School District for over thirty years. She passed away on November 7, 1998. Her passing was deeply felt throughout the community where she had taught three generations of students. Her love of nature and teaching has been passed on through many of her pupils, who continue Joan's work today. In 2007, an endowment fund was created in Joan's name and memory. Donations made to the endowment can never be spent; the fund are invested and only the interest is used. The funds provide support for environmental education programs and activities at the Nature Center. For information on making a donation, please call 630-773-2257.
